Today i witnessed a man hiding in a bush shooting wood pigeons - he was using a decoy wood pigeon to attract the inquisitive breed into his firing line. One by one the wood pigeons were shot. The lucky ones were killed instantly but has I found to my discussed a wood pigeon who had been shot in the wing and was hiding in the undergrowth, only to await a slow and painful death?
I approached the man and gave him a piece of my mind, i returned to the injured bird and it had disappeared, presumably down a nearby fox or badger hole for safety?!
My question is...These methods used for killing birds is unregulated and in most cases inhumain! Should hunting laws be changed to avoid unnecesary suffering??...many birds are not killed instantly and left to suffer, hiding away in undergrowth hoping not to be detected!
Do the 'people' have no concious about the injured birds they shoot but don't kill? Many of these 'people' don't even use dogs to retrieve their shootings, like the 'Person' (man?) i had the misfortune of seeing today.
