I believe Susan Coopers introduction of the book would have caused a few young readers to be turned off. I found the beginning a little complicated and I was quite confused especially concerning the Cornish accent and the fisherman’s language. Once I was past the accents and the descriptions of boats, I found the story quite intriguing.

When reading the accent bits I had to go over it at least 5 times!!!
