Hi,
I am a student doing a project on left-handedness. For my project I am required to interview people by February 23 (24th at the very latest), and I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to answer some of my questions. Any questions you can answer or provide insite on would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have anything else related to left-handedness that you would like to add - that would be great.
My Questions:
1. Does having a dominant left hand mean you're more likely to have a dominant left ear, eye, and foot?
2. Is it true that lefties have more allergies than right-handed people? If so, why do they have more allergies?
3. Why are males more likely to be left-handed than females?
4. What kinds of equipment are hard or impossible for lefties to use unless they have left-handed versions? Why are they hard or impossible to use?
5. Why weren't lefties accepted in the community years ago?
6. When did society start to accept lefties and not force them to switch dominant hands?
7. Is it normal for lefties to do certain things with their right hand instead of their left? Is there a special name for this?
8. How do lefties learn to write? Is it harder for them than for right-handed people? Do they have to use different techniques?
9. If a lefty uses a right-handed tool, and then starts to use a left-handed version of it, is it hard for them to use the left-handed tool?
10. I have read that the gene that increases your chance of being left-handed is a paternal gene. If you have a left-handed mother, does this increase your chance of being left-handed?
11. I have heard about a technique used by psychologists, where you write a question about your feelings on a subject with your right hand, and you answer it writing with your left hand. This is because the right hemisphere of the brain is better with interpreting emotions. How much better is it at interpreting emotions? Can your mood shift if you change what hand you're writing with?
12. What else can you tell me about left-handedness?
Thank you for answering my questions!
