I was pleased to come across this website, it's a very interesting find. I'm amazed that there are as yet no discussions on my favourite subject - herbal medicine. What does anyone have to say about it?
As this site is called Absolute Astronomy I thought I'd include this extract from the very famous herbalist Nicholas Culpeper (1616-1654) who was also interested in the study of celestial objects.
Those who study astrology "are the only men I know that are fit to study physic, physic, without astrology, being like a lamp without oil"
It is of course true that these days Astrology and Astromomy have come to mean very different things. Historically though, Astrology would have been studied as part of Astronomy.
I can't say that I use Astrology in my practice as a medical herbalist in Exeter, UK. In the garden though, I find that paying attention to the moon reaps great rewards.
