On 18th September 1938 F/O Alner George Newton survived a crash of Blenheim Mk1 K7163 in which the rest of the crew died. This was at Urpeth Forge, Co Durham. He was in 61 Squadron which, at the time, was based at RAF Hemswell.

The only other reference I can find states that he was still at Hemswell when he was killed on 6th June 1939 but gives no further information.
