I have been scouring the web, trying to find out who was the father of Peter Easton who became a pirate after the peace treaty with Spain. He "retired" as the Marquis of Savoy in Villefranche, France.
Apparently I'm related to him in some way, but most of the literature doesn't tell where he came from in England, if he married or if he had any children.
I would be delighted if anyone had some or all of this information for me as I'm not getting any younger and would like to know more before the "grim Reaper" comes to call!!
Thanks for your help

Hi, I was really intrigued by your story - mainly because I have nobody either famous or notorious in my family.
Anyway, I just Googled - Peter Easton Pirate - and a whole lot of stuff about him came up.
There is (or was because his entry was from 2006) a John S. Mitchell Ph.D who wanted any Eastons from Brixham in Devon to contact him at vista@cam.org because he is studying the life of the pirate. He goes on to say that Peter Easton was born in Brixham Devon, as was his father, William. He also says that Peter was said to be forty in 1613 so he would have been born about 1573.
Hope this helps and good luck with your family research!

I don't know if you are still researching the Pirate Peter Easton, but I have a family Geneology of my ancestor, Joseph Easton, who came from County Devon about 1632. He was a follower of religious leader, Thomas Hooker, and moved with that group shortly thereafter to Rhode Island.
The book which I have was edited by a William S. Easton from Minnesota in 1899. It contains unverified "pedgree" data tracing the family back to a sister of William The Conqueror.
You probably have more information about the British side of the family but this might provide some of the New World, including Canadian Eastons. (I have a son named Peter, but not after the pirate.) William S. Easton
