My husband had a partial colectomy in February 2008. From the moment he awoke from surgery he has had severe cramping and nausea every single day! It is so bad that he is unable to work. Many days he is in the bathroom up to 15 times. The nausea is the worst part. He has undergone multiple tests for Chron's Disease, Pancreatic and Colon Cancer, Brain Tumor and on and on. No one can explain the nausea. In late May he had surgery to repair a wound hernia from the partial colectomy. They used staples to close the incision sight. He had an allergic reaction to the staples. This made think back to other surgeries and I realized that he has always had a slight reaction to the staples. They used staples, as is common practice, to reconnect the bowel after his partial colectomy. Subsequent colonostomies have shown that there is still irritation around the reconnection area. Could he be having an allergic reaction to the staples? I realize that there would have been no way of knowing this would occur. I have mentioned it to his surgeon and he said there were no studies to indicate this to be a problem.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. My husband is a 47 year old man that has no life due to this.
