If fractal phenomena and self-similarity are so ubiquitous in what we can observe of nature with clarity, confidence and high resolution, why is the idea of a fractal cosmos not better received?
The majority of professional cosmologists (see Amanda Gefter's article in New Scientist couple of years ago about evidence for large-scale fractal structure in the cosmos)either ignore or criticize this paradigm. In Gefter's article a Professor D. Hogg ridicules the work of Pietronero et al. and basiclly says that he thinks fractal cosmology does not deserve consideration!
I have been amazed at the physics community's refusal to confront the possible evidence for fractal structure and the refusal to give a fair hearing to what would seem to be a very promising new paradigm.
What gives?!
