I really think that corporal punishments should be banned in schools all over he world.
Why, once when I was in boarding school at the age of 14, I slipped out of my dormitory past bedtime which was not allowed. The warden caught me and dragged me to her room, picked up a thin steel ruler and made me remove my lower clothing. I then got 9 strokes with the thin, sharp ruler on the bottom. I couldn't sit for a week!

I have many experiences to share.
One is this:
I was at my boarding school, and I was 14 years old.

Once at the dinner table, I dropped a plate and it broke. I wasn't allowed to have my dinner that night and I was caned 7 times on the back of my bare thighs.

Everyone makes mistakes, and I had dropped the plate by mistake. After the caning I had to eat my breakfast lunch and dinner sitting on the floor for one whole month.

I was at home in the boarding school holidays.
Once I was angry and I broke a cup of my mother's most expensive dining set. Mother and Father were not home; my aunt was looking after me for a week while they were away.

When she found out what I'd done she first made me clear up the mess and then made me remove my lower clothing. She forced me to bend on a chair and gave me 18 strokes of a thin, sharp steel ruler on my buttocks. It was sore for a week!

I agree with you that such punishments are too harsh for children! And there should never be any capital punishments in schools or at home.

in egypt we suffer from a lot of corporal punishment (on feet soles - on hands - on bottom) from miss in age (13-17 years old) for boys only which is a big discrimination between girls and boys
