I have a 12year old eckkie. No big changes in living situation. He is on roudy bush pellets and supplemented by fruits and veggies. He has toys although he doesn't seem to play with them much. He gets one on one time with hubby who is his new best friend. BUT he starts screeching almost nonstop sometimes for over an hour. We have tried everything. Moved him to another room, different toys, special treats. Hubby lets him hang out on his arm -- 10 minutes later Peanut screeches in his ear. Not good. He spends alot of time by himself because of work schedules, but even when we are in the room it's almost non stop. I know he is trying to tell us something but I can't figure it out. Additionally after his last molt about 6 months ago his pretty green feathers are not coming back around his neck. He has the grey down feathers but no green ones. I see no sign of plucking and the only feathers in the bottom of the cage are his large wing feathers. Looking for any insight. Weight seems fine, color of beak and feathers that are there are nice and bright.

It sounds like he is not getting enough time with his best friend and he is lonely. Do you or hubby take him in the shower with you for a good bath,also I feed mine 3times a day, I also hang card board boxes in his cage to chew on. I give mine a very large varity of food and the stranger the miixture the better and I do know my male loves dried red chile peppers. Hope this is some help.
