Sodium hydroxide slowly reacts with glass to form sodium silicate, so glass joints and stopcocks exposed to NaOH have a tendency to "freeze." What I have seen in the past is someone using easy off on the oven glass. If possible, moisten a dish rag with hot water, and carefully apply to spot immediately. If the glass has already begun the "silication" process, you must carefully sand/buff/polish the area of damaged glass, trying different sanding utensils untill desired surface appearance has been acquired.
