Way too much contradicting information out there. where to use open cell vs closed cell, closed cell plus batt insulation, how much closed cell with batt insulation, thermal break, dew point, with or without a vapor barrier, etc. i want to spray foam between my rafters before my roof gets torn off to minimize the mess in my attic and insulate at the same time. would this be a mistake? would 1" of closed cell be enough? would i have to spray all the way around the rafters to completely enclose them? will this trap moisture in my roof decking? what is the right way to do this?
