I am new to the forum and wondering if anybody maybe able to help me.
Researching my friends family tree I discovered that her Great grandfather was according to the 1901 English census a Sergeant in the Connaught Rangers. His name was Stephen George Lane born abt 1876 in Birmingham, England. He married Margaret Jennings from Co.Mayo in Galway in 1900 and had a son in the same year. They appear on the English census for 1901 but by 1911 he has died and she appears on the Irish census records living at Castlebar, Co Mayo along with her three children - she remarried a few years later (Thomas Faulkner, The Grove, Castlebar, Co Mayo and went on to have a further four children at least)
I am trying to establish when and where Stephen George Lane died and wondered if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction. (as he appeared on 1901 census, it means he must have died sometime between 1901 - 1911)
