I love the Vicar as you don’t hear much of him and he is a very mysterious character. At the beginning if the book I couldn’t figure out whether he was good or bad but now that I am further in I think he is after the grail too.

The “Vicar” or so he calls himself really is a mysterious character. As you get further into the book he starts to reveal himself more and more until the very end when you find out his true identity. I too agree that he is after the grail.

Don't want to spoil anything so all I will say is you have to read the epilogue!! The book gets so much better!

The vicar was quite 'frightening' at the beginning when Jane visited him and he is an interesting character. I want to know what the character 'Great Uncle Merry' means by saying he often changes his name.

Yes - it's a really clever use of character here, becuase we would traditionally expect a 'vicar' to be a protagonist. The fact that he uses this as a 'disguise' helps to veil his true motivations.
