Over the years I've had good friends who were Moslem. I was a birthing coach for one dear friend. When she was in labor she asked me to pray for her to the Virgin Mary. Being devoted to Mary, I gladly did as she asked.
Assuming that, to my friend Mary would be a Saint, much like the mother of the Prophet, I asked her if she wanted me to pray to his mother. She said no, only Mary.
Since then I have met other Moslems who have had a very close relationship to the Virgin Mary.
Yet when I read the section of the Koran on Mary, I found only a little section about the birth of her child. The rest of the chapter seemed to be unrelated to Mary.
I would very much like to learn more about Islam and Mary. Why are Moslems devoted to Mary and why do they pray to Her?
Are there Moslems who are especially Marian in their focus? Is there a sect of Islam especially devoted to Mary?
Respectfully, rose4gospa
