The WEATHER

I notice that there isn't much traffic on this forum, so I don't know how many people this is actually going to reach.
Regardless:
Has anyone noticed how many major cities over the last week of so have developed immobile lightning storms over them? I've been checking the weather pretty constantly since we had our very odd storm here in Spokane around Jul 26. It seems like there's some kind of atmospheric ionization occurring over major cites. It intensifies as normal weather patterns move across it, then fades away as the natural storm moves on. They don't seem to be affected by wind patterns and seem to radiate out from a central point, like magnetic field-lines viewed end-on.
These electromagnetic disturbances are focused right now around the Mid-west were the worst of the storms are right now, and there are some pretty intense radar readings, always focused on some major urban area. Last week, all of the San Fernando Valley was lit up, along with most major cities on the Western seaboard.
It's an extremely interesting phenomenon, and if there's any traffic on this forum and someone knows something about these occurrences, and would be willing to enlighten me, I would be immensely grateful.
If nothing like this has ever been seen before, I'd also like to know, so I can pay attention.

Respectfully,
~OTR~

No, I hadn't noticed that. What do you think it is?

I think it has something to do with major cities being oceans of concrete reflecting heat, as well as the local overload of electromagnetic emissions in all cities. As far as what it means, I don't know, I can put all kinds of guesses together, but I don't have the experience with reading radar images to really know what I'm looking at.
