Killing other human beings is not a right it is a sin. The right to defend yourself, to own weapons comes with a very high level of responsibility. That responsibility is ensuring by our actions and votes that we live in a world where shooting people in self defense occurs as little as possible. It is the flip side of the second amendment.
Our fore fathers left us with a self healing republic that can be maintained even changed with out one drop of blood being shed. It was their fervent wish that another revolution never occur. The full implementation of the second amendment (the deployment of civilian militia against the gov't) would mean we have utterly failed to keep what those brave wise men worked so hard to give us.
