I don't live far from Chicago, in another state, but not far. The town I live in has a problem with gangs from both Detroit and Chicago. The interstate running through this area connects both places. I had a friend in the FBI who called that highway a drug corridor.
As the weather gets warmer, crimes rises everywhere but, if you have never lived in a economically depressed, drug ridden, gang controlled area, you cannot imagine what rising crime truly means.
The town I live in has seen police intervention from the state level. The state police have taken over for the local cops. There have been riots here. The state has taken control of the school more than once and the elected officials are corrupt beyond the avarice of Rome.
we made the national news a couple of years ago for a riot. Jesse Jackson visited us.
Troops in the street coming to MY town, you betcha. Are they coming to YOUR town?
How far away from crushing poverty, drug dealers, and gangs do you live?
IF you live in a city of any real size, I would guess, not far.
Economic depression affects crime folks. Here it comes, and the weather is looking fine.
