I have been trying to find out more about the camel corps because my father served with them in WW1. There must be a connection with TE Lawrence because my father spoke of being part of his escort across the desert. Many years ago I met a young subaltern in the Scots Guards who told me his father had been an officer in the Camel Corps and had also been of an escort for Colonel Lawrence which was quite a coincidence. If only I had listened to everything my father told me about his war service but when one is young one is not as interested. My father also thought camels were pretty horrible animals!
