What are the primary causes of Global Warming/Climate Change?

The main cause of global warming is the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This gas is released primarily from the combustion of fossil fuels from cars, power plants, and factories.

Another main cause (and one that is often not discussed) is deforestation.
Trees filter the air of carbon by taking in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.

Greenhouse effect is one cause of Global warming and human activities have caused most of the warming.
Well basically, it's US, that is the main cause of Global Warming.

While the previous reply s are factors that are accelerating global warming they root cause. Understand I am not saying human activity has no affect but the primary cause was the question am I correct? Humans have the need to make everything about themselves they even thought the the universe revolved around them but they are not the reason for everything.
Did you know the earth recently geologically speaking was in a full blown ice age? It was not deforestation or industrialization that caused this to end. The global environment experiences cycles and can fluctuate within these cycles. Look up the geological periods and you will see that the leading up to and during the Jurassic and the Carboniferous periods the climate went into an extreme warming cycle. The earth is simply at the beginning of another warming trend. So while human activity is accelerating the process its not the root cause. I could explain why these cycles occur but that would require an understanding of the nature of the universe that most are not ready for. Hope this helped

It's mainly pollution through air

For me global warming is a serious problem that we aare facing right now! one of the major cause of the global warming is too much abuse of our natural resourcess because of the factories that emmits carbon dioxide that is the main ingredients in global warming!

The primary causes of the Global Warming/CLIMATE CHANGE are the natural processes or the functions of the planet, I think. Global Warming is one of the effects or outcomes of the natural cyclic process or function called Climate Change. There are three more basic global effects or outcomes that do happen through a complete Climate Change cycle. One of the three it is what we call Ice Age and the other two are the intermediaries.
According to my understanding the real Global Warming ended some 5ooo years ago. From then till now the climate has been going through one of the intermediaries and I think it is about to shift gears towards the Ice Age.The momentary global warming that seams to be happening it is only a short term side effect of that gear shifting.
The underlining planetary processes that do shape and fuse the Climate Change cycle are too complex but it is obvious that the green house effect it is one of the main links on that chain.I think it is the feedback process to the whole system and it goes through its own cyclic natural changing pattern.
My answer to your question is that the primary causes of Global Warming/Climate Change,in principle, are due to natural phenomena and natural events.
It is only my opinion, not an accepted scientific knowledge or fact.Another angle to look at it. :-)

The main cause of global warming is the release of greenhouse gases by human activities. It’s time we began contributing to a safe environment by planting more trees, using green products, recycling materials instead of throwing them away, and conserving the natural resources of the earth. For instance water can be conserved at home by following simple steps like turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth, taking shorter showers, installing a smart sprinkler controller, fixing leaky faucets, and washing only full loads of laundry. The root cause of the environmental/climate changes we are facing today is because we are at the fourth seal of Bible prophecy.

The sun...our SUVs did not melt the polar caps on mars or completely alter the once frozen Saturn moon Inceladus to oceans...it is not the harmless CO2 gas, which is A major element to life on this planet.

I guess this particular discussion ("thread") is over by now but this is my view: global warming is caused by humanity and, at this time, it is more powerful than an opposite one by Earth of global cooling. Earth moves from the Sun at the rate of 23 to 49 ft. per century; the Moon moves away from Earth at the rate of 8 ft. per century.
Earth was closest to the Sun at about 55 million years ago and since then has moved slowly away, which is why it has cooled and ice returned to its poles at about three million years ago. The last ice age series ended 443 million years ago (this may have been revised but by 400 million years ago Earth had warmed for the Age of Amphibians).
The gist of this is that global warming will end if we stop polluting Earth but Earth's cooling will then resume and we'll eventually end up on an iceball (which Earth was two billion years ago).

Strange, considering that while we thrive on oxygen/nitrogen (air) we exhale carbon dioxide which plants consume while emitting oxygen! Without co2, plants could not survive.

Think about the effects of solar activity (solar flares, sunspots, etc.) There you will find a great source for change!

Hi there.
I am thinking about the solar activity, as you requested, but still it does not add up as a primary cause for the Climate Change, sorry. :)
All them solar activities you mention are very short term cyclic changes. Can't really be primary causes for the Climate Change, which it is of a much much longer term.
Thanks for your comment on me post.
cheers

There are hundreds of things that could be done other than Western bashing to solve the problem, Instead of dumping wast water into our rivers ,lakes our drinking water, every drop should be used to grow more trees Scientists have looked carefully at each of these factors. The only one where the data matches up is greenhouse gases -- levels of these gases have risen sharply as we burn more fossil fuels. If liberals were really interested in solving the problem, and not interested only in bashing industrialized nations, They would look for real solutions, The most logical solution is to increase oxygen in the atmosphere, rather than slow industrialization. One average size tree produces enough oxygen for breathing of 25 people. The average new home built would add 5 new trees to the world's best oxygen producers A simple solution in the US Is to force the US Government to release some of the millions an millions of acres, they are holding away from the people to control demographers for political reasons. GB advocates have already starved 100 millions Africans to death with their Western bashing agenda. Trees not only pump oxygen into the atmosphere they also pump moisture into the air. It doesn't rain much any more in Africa because most of the trees have been cut down in Africa and the Mid east.
