In bipolar disorder, a person jumps between depresssed and manic states.

Some patients may experience more depressive or more manic states.

Can some one with bipolar live a normail life ,like work, and take care of there family? as i have a niece that is liveing with a man that is bipoler ,and has two sons by him
that has been told by his mom that he can not do anything ,and that it is up to her my niece to look after her boys and work ,it is really taken toal on her and the kids ,she is off work right now trying to help her boys as they are acting out ,because there Dad is in and out of the home ,as he can not deil with the kids ,when my niece is at work ,so he run home to his mom so she can tell him to let her take care of the kids,and my niece will not let her beacuse of the way she is allways saying there dad is sick that is why he cant work or take care of them ,but he loves them. and my niecs does not want them told that ,as she has told her oldes son that is only 10 years old that he may be just like his dad ,please help me to nuderstand this pioler so i can help my niece .thank you Glenda Donnelly
