Oh... did you mean firearm? Then, I'd say Colt 45-caliber pistol... since he was an officer, he carried a sidearm.
Since he's vintage WWII as well, and I think he came up through the ranks (enlisted to officer) - one might also believe he had an affinity for the M-1 Garand rifle...
