1937 Japan takes aggressive action against the Chinese.

Sep 1939 Germany invades Poland on the pretext that Poland was abusing ethnic Germans. When in fact Germany wanted Poland for itself to allow for "living space" for the further development of the German people. This caused the Polish allies of England and France to declare war on Germany. Three weeks later Russia invades the Eastern half of Poland by a secret agreement it had with Germany.

Dec 1939 - Feb 1940: Russia makes territorial demands on Finland. Finland refuses and Russia invades Finland.

Apr 1940: Germany invades Denmark and Norway. Norway is a source of iron ore for Germany of which England is threatening to cut this supply line. Denmark falls to Germany to facilitate the Norwegian invasion.

May 1940: In order to invade France, Germany also invades Belgium and Holland so that it might use alternate route to come at French and English forces.

Oct 1940: Italy invades Greece. Flounders and has to be rescued by the Germans who enter not only Greece but Yugoslavia and Crete.

June 1941: Germany invades Russia.

Dec 1941: Japan attacks British, French, Dutch, and American possessions in Southeast Asia along with an undeclared war raid on the American military bases in Hawaii.
Germany, an ally of Japan declares war on the United States.

All of the principle players are engaged at this point. Most believe the German attack on Poland started the war. Others feel that it began in China vs. Japan. But, that conflict did not draw in other countries like the German invasion of Poland.

Roger that Zacman. Judging by your icon, perhaps your more in tune with the end of the war. (Tongue in cheek moment). But honestly, some of the questions floating around appear to be coming straight from the teachers homework assignments. If I needed a quick answer, and homework is time sensitive, I'd go to Wikipedia. This space should be used more as a discussion area. Yet, I can accept that there are legitimate questions on matters of this subject other than school work. It just surprises me that some of them are pretty basic. I suppose we all had to start from square one.

Say what?

Your saying too little. Please expound. The acronym and names are unfamiliar. This forum, I believe, is a place where one can explain or learn.

If you are referring to the social and economic turmoil of a defeated and prostrated Germany exacerbated by the gutting Versailles Treaty, then perhaps there were consequences that followed into a world wide conflict. But, I hardly think that was the intent of those who had an agenda to further their political, philosophical, or enconomic agenda. There were many events in a 100 years prior to WW2 that were contributing factors for cumulation of a world war. Most individually would not have been a factor. But mix in other events and human nature and you get a synthesis that is unforeseeable.

I consider that the reason is struggle for influence spheres. Hitler believed that there is a main nation on the Earth, and the others should be destroyed or subordinated... Also the economic reasons follow from here.

PRIDE...

Ego is fed by pride. When someone feels that somehow they are better than everyone else, there is conflict.

When there are other people who can be convinced that that someone is right, then inertia exists to accelerate toward conflict (sooner).
