When new members of the British Royal family are added, new titles are given. Prince Edward will one day inherit his father, the Duke of Edinburgs's, title. Until that time. he was given the title of the Earl of Wessex. Where did that title come from? The Earls of Wessex existed in Elisabeth I reign. Where has the title been since then? Andrew is the Duke of York. That title dates from the days of Edward and the war of the Roses. Shouldn't there be other descendants who could hold these titles? How many titles does Elisabeth II have access to today? I have tried to google this question and landed on this website? Help!
