From what I know, most Western countries are in negative population growth. Japan is on the road to extinction, most of Europe is dying on the vine - where is this global overpopulation happening? Figures please.
Who are the folks determining how many people is too many? Are they the same guys opposed to GM food production? Should we be killing more people instead of growing more food? If so, who? Certainly not us enlightened educated types.
Personally, I'm really sick of the doom mongerers. Seems like there's too many of them. Time for a cull?

Time for a cull? Mother Nature will make the “cull” decision if Mankind does not find a more humane approach to bringing the human population down to the carrying capacity of Mother Earth.
7± billion and growing. The "Where" can be answered easily by a search of census and demographic papers, surely you are capable of doing that for yourself.
3± billion in 1960 and the planet had serious pollution problems even then. More than double in 50 years can only be seen as a situation out of control.
Fact is that even with 3 billion and a high quality of life (your computer, television, etc.) we have to find some way to recycle everything.
About 10% of the reefs have been badly damaged by run off from fertilizers, herbicides and other "off-gassing" in our (somewhat unsuccessful) attempts to feed the populations. That is the result of pollution accumulated over the past 50± years, it is obvious the destruction is continuing at a faster pace at pollution levels today.
Anti-biotics being used in mass, concentrated growing of animal protein (pigs, cows, chickens, ...) have done a lot to create drug resistant microbes. There are several that no medicine can cure, they are not widespread yet, but will be.
Mother Nature is not nearly so benevolent as Mankind. If we do not have serious discussions that convince people to behave more responsibly she (MN) will do it for us.
