Janus is the God of the Gates. It belongs to the Roman Mythology, (not the Greek) Probably originated in the Mesopotamia, perhaps in the Chaldean culture. I'll investigate this further and post later what I found.

Hey, have you read the Percy Jackson series? ITS THE BEST!
Well janus is in it and this is what i gather. Janus means doors, which implies he is god of doors and decisions, etc. (hence janitors)
He is thought to have two faces. In Percy Jackson 4, the faces argue with eachother....

Janus is the god of beginnings and ends, thus the first month of the Roman calendar is named after him as January. He was originally of Etruscan mythology, but later adopted by the Romans. He has no exact counterpart in Greek mythology, because he was, as stated above, adopted from Etruscan mythology, not Greek.
