Why do you personally wear a burka?

I am doing an assignment for University and want to understand why women personally wear Burkas.
I want to contrast between western cultures affinity for immodesty and the wearing of the Burka, and why western culture finds it so hard to accept the Burka. And why western culture prefers immodesty over modesty.
I would also like to communicate the fact that I am not against the wearing of the Burka.
I am from a western culture and do not wear a Burka, but want to understand it.

I really don't know, but my guess would be for the simple action of control....i am not connected to any religion....just God....so as an outsider i see the religions for what most of them are...control-mongers, and woman-nizers...take for instance the fact that no women can hold any high positions in the Catholic church, unless you want to be a nun...i have always wondered why women felt so compelled to be part of something that does hold them in the same high regards as men...crazy

Thankyou for your question mjane. First I doubt you are in University, because of the style of your question..lol..

Secondly I doubt such assignments are really given in the Western Societies...lol

Thirdly I don't think Burka has to do something with modesty or immodesty of a women...lol..or beard with the modestly of men...lol..

I'm glad you personally prefer to remain veiled in public..because it's the public you can never trust...still I would like to comment on it personally ...that Burka is not a requirement or a disguise (lol) of modesty.
My mother and grandmother used to wear Burkas. It was traditional to them. When I and my friend were in University at your age I prefered a coat with head-cover (dopatta)..Most of our friends didnot...but they were equally good or even much better ..I must say..I'm talking about an Islamic country.

In Western societies, I think a clean heart and mind is much better than any outer requirements.(for both...lol)

I respect and appreciate your sincere concerns and friendly way to ask questions, and will be happy to assist you any furthur..though I'm not as good as you might expect, just another form of a specie ...called human..lol

So I sometimes feel like asking all gentlemen..."kindly let the women breathe... too!! :)

.................

I liked it. ..I mean your style of answering right from the begining...it is beautiful..even if i can't see the beauty or will never be able to...lol
I mean regarding the connection to any particular religion...because all those who are.... simply do it in order to control an action...
God.. if ..there is ..ONE...REALone then HE is controlling all the religions and the religious....

I don't think women has any urge to take over men...either..
or becoming a Nun can help them..lol...God has made humans very helpless, especailly women..because she deserves honour and protection..from those she trusts. esp....

Men and women are complimentary to eachother..in any described category of the relation..

I appreciate your input...it reflected the question very well...
..and..your style of writing is just like 'mine'..very poetic!

Thanks for opening a new chapter of discussion. It is very meaningful, indeed. :)

Right on "silent", I also appreciate your input...i have watched your writings in here and for the most part they can be alittle wordy....but with the knowledge you must have i can see how it would be hard to "simply explain" a topic to strangers without being as clear as possible...look forward to chatting with you again.

Inductions:

1-If there is NO GOD, there's has to be NO RELIGION
2-If there is a GOD, RELIGION doesn't matter
3-If there are NO HUMANS, MODESTY doesn't count
4-If there are ALL HUMANS, MODESTY doesn't matter

Deductions:

5-If there's NO MODESTY, BURKA doesn't count
6-If there is MODESTY, BOTH genders must wear BURKAS

SILENT (:L:O:L)

Thanks Silent,
I actually am at uni lol
I have to write a synopsis on an assignment that i did earlier in the year, and extend it.
The assignment was based on the fact that women who wear burka's are targeted because of what they wear, which i believe ends up targeting women because of their religion, which i also believe is unfair. Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

Our lecturers did not give us the assignment question, i'm doing a visual arts course and we had to create a sculpture in relation to the body, and how popular culture has a reaction to what is on the body. I chose the Burka and now have to extend on it.

Thats the thing though, when wearing a burka or a dopatta modestly comes along with it doesn't it? and from speaking to westerners they seem feel immediate discomfort when they see someone wearing a burka, but yet have no issue with someone parading themselves around with hardly any clothes on. but like you said its more traditional to your family to wear it and that's cool lol i think i get it.

I like what you said, "In Western societies, I think a clean heart and mind is much better than any outer requirements." ---In a way is this what the wearing of the burka is meant to represent? or am i totally wrong.
and i wanted to ask you, what do you mean by, "because it's the public you can never trust"

thanks so much for answering!

Hello mjane..
It seems you were watching other people to run your thread. lol..Welcome back and Eid Mubarak to you.

I don't feel like repeating myself over and over again to be understood or believed because it creates confusions when I swear and would do the opposite... lol

Now I'll try to quote your statment one by one to make sure that you'll not bother people at forum again...
..........

"I actually am at uni lol "

S:Is it something to laugh about? I feel concerned though because of the human respect... People like you who laugh at themselves have given opportunity to other people to mis-use and mis-direct this natural occurance...Even great Muslims have never bothered to resolve the issue...I mean the Kings of India...they thought this biological privilege will allow them to move around freely amongst one gender to another gender ..without being a threat to their wives in harems or their guys out of them...I could never know if any of those thought about them being a threat to their ownselves.

"I have to write a synopsis on an assignment that i did earlier in the year, and extend it.

S:It seems you want to remain self-righteous so I wont object.Well there are people who keep on threatening women even if it is not because of dress lol

"Our lecturers did not give us the assignment question, i'm doing a visual arts course and we had to create a sculpture in relation to the body, and how popular culture has a reaction to what is on the body. I chose the Burka and now have to extend on it."

S:I think your choice is right but it can a help for sculpture only..because they have no brains..lol

"Thats the thing though, when wearing a burka or a dopatta modestly comes along with it doesn't it? and from speaking to westerners they seem feel immediate discomfort when they see someone wearing a burka, but yet have no issue with someone parading themselves around with hardly any clothes on. but like you said its more traditional to your family to wear it and that's cool lol i think i get it."

S.Well I can't tell about Westerners and their approach..wise people say there are two ends and two extremes always which can never MEET lol...
My family used to live in East and was suppose to parade with common folks of their time, which has nothing to do with what is happening now in the name of modesty...but I 'personally' feel that if you want to attract attention of people ..everything can work..lol

"I like what you said, "In Western societies, I think a clean heart and mind is much better than any outer requirements." ---In a way is this what the wearing of the burka is meant to represent? or am i totally wrong."

S. You are totally wrong..

"and i wanted to ask you, what do you mean by, "because it's the public you can never trust"

S. It needs explanations..and there's no need to explain to people you don't trust.. lol

"thanks so much for answering!"
S. I appreciate visible courtesy..
