In all subsaharan countries the development terminology databases and of corpora for terminology extraction in native African languages continues to lag behind, largely because of the use of characters which are not supported directly by the ordinary computer keyboard. Is there an easier way out? Is it not possible to convert any phonetic symbols with the help of the ordinary letters of the Roman alphabet and thus make the work of terminologist much easier?
