, began construction operations in 2000 under the leadership of Billy L. Harbert. The company was originally founded as the Harbert International division of Harbert Corporation. B.L. Harbert has two main operating divisions, the U.S. Division and the International Division. The U.S. Division is further divided into the following divisions: commercial, healthcare, federal, and civil/industrial. The U.S. and International divisions undertake the preconstruction, general construction, construction management, and design-build services of office buildings, condominiums, institutional buildings, healthcare facilities, churches, industrial facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants. Much of the company's work is for repeat clients. Throughout the world, B.L. Harbert employs over 6,500 people and typically has over 40 projects underway at all times.

B.L. Harbert is ranked as one of the top contractors in the United States. The company is currently ranked 74th in the country (ENR Magazine). The company is also ranked as one of the top green contractors in the country by ENR Magazine. In 2009, the company had an annual green revenue of $517 Million. B.L. Harbert has extensive design-build experience and is ranked as the 41st design-build company in the country (ENR Magazine).

B.L. Harbert is a Delaware Liability Company founded in 2000 by Billy L. Harbert. The company is based in Birmingham, Alabama with an additional office in Dubai, U.A.E.

B.L. Harbert is also one of the most well-known and respected builders of Embassies, having completed many for the United States
