Bad Münstereifel is a historical spa town

, with about 19,000 inhabitants, situated in the far south of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia
. The little town is one of only few historical towns in the very south of North Rhine-Westphalia, and because of this is often overcrowded by tourists throughout Spring and Summer.
The most prominent figure currently living in the town is the folk-singer Heino
. Twenty years ago, that role was filled by Otto Graf Lambsdorff
