Birmingham's new Magistrates' Court is a proposed £80m court building in Birmingham

redevelopment site, in the Eastside
area of the city.
Design is being undertaken by architects Denton Corker Marshall
with engineers Mott MacDonald
providing structural, building services, façade and fire engineering services. This is the same team which designed Manchester Civil Justice Centre
, also for Her Majesty's Courts Service
.
The 15 storey building will have a floor area of approximately 20000 square metres (215,278 sq ft) and will house 24 magistrates courts. The façade is envisaged as a flowing wave like combination of aluminium and glass, with no sharp corners. This is somewhat similar to the famous façade at the Birmingham branch of Selfridges
at the Bullring shopping centre.
The building is expected to be completed and occupied before the end of 2012.
