The village has a big sense of community, with a successful church and Sports and Social Club. The village has a strong sense of self sufficiency, with an active Parish Council, village primary school, for children aged 4 to 11, and a few small retail premises.

The local church is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

The location of the local doctor's surgery used to be the old Victory Club. This was used by the Church for entertainment purposes.
