from 1963 to 1965. He was in private practice in Aberdeen, South Dakota
from 1965 to 1995, also working as an assistant city attorney for the City of Aberdeen from 1970 to 1986.
On January 23, 1995, Kornmann was nominated by President Bill Clinton
to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota

. Kornmann was confirmed by the United States Senate
