Danmarks Ingeniørakademi was an intermediate-level public university of engineering
, founded in 1957. It was co-located with the Technical University of Denmark
(DTU), on the Lundtofte campus. It offered a more aggressively paced curriculum
, of minimum 3.5 years duration, compared to the minimum 5.5 years of DTU. Academic credit was readily transferable for students at both institutions.
A graduate of Danmarks Ingeniørakademi would hold the title of 'Akademiingeniør'. In American or international terms, the title is equivalent to 'Bachelor of Science', or 'Bachelor of Engineering'.
In 1994 it was decided to further streamline the Danish system of higher technical education. The idea was to have a clear path of progression, from licensed technician, all the way up to 'Civilingeniør'.
In American or international terms, the title is equivalent to 'Master of Science in Engineering'.
As a consequence, Danmarks Ingeniørakademi merged with a number of other institutions.
