in the late 1980s to set up a rural community hospital, north of Kampala
, Uganda's capital city. After starting that rural hospital, now known as Kiwoko Hospital
, Dr. Clarke decided to start a private upscale hospital in the heart of Kampala to cater to the emerging middle class in the city. His goal was to provide quality, affordable health care for the private sector, and drive forwards development in the medical sector, thus positively impacting health services in the country.
