In 1843 the village of Dänikon
left Dällikon to become an independent municipality.
The municipality is located in the Furttal
on the northern flank of the Altberg.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP
which received 50.4% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the CSP
(12.1%), the SPS
(12%) and the FDP
(9%).
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 22.9% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 70% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 7.1%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated.
