Origin of the IMPA pseudonym

Before the Area Material Quilmes was established in the place where it now exists, there was an industrial facility named "IMPA" which was the abbreviation of "Industrias Metalurgicas Plasticas Argentinas". When the school was founded, in 1957, there was a tower inside the Area Material Quilmes' that had the IMPA slogan painted on it, this tower was easily seen from the Av Otamendi. Then this tower was repainted although the IMPA slogan remained visible from the outside despite the newer painting. Finally the front of the tower was chopped and the IMPA slogan removed, therefor the school gain the nickname "IMPA", referring to that company. Later the school adopted that slogan and made its motto within these initials: "Identity Mastery Progress Action".

History

The school began its activities in March of 1957 at first under the jurisdiction of Taller Reginal Quilmes, and then Area Material Quilmes. The school's mission was to provide education for aeronautic workshop operators apprentices.

On April 25, 1962 the Taller Regional Quilmes and Consejo Nacional de Educación Técnica reached an agreement and the school began to operate officially as a secondary school under the name Escuela Nacional de Educación Técnica Nº4 "Taller Regional Quilmes" using the facilities and heritage provided by the Argentinean Air Force.

Since 1971, the Electronics Technician degree has been offered in the school, graduating the first class of electronics technicians in 1973. The Aeronautics Technician degree has been offered since 1973, graduating the first class of aeronautics technicians in 1975.

From 1999 with the high school reform from the Province of Buenos Aires
