judge. In 1930, Fairchild was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court
, retiring in 1957. From 1954 to 1957, he was chief justice. In 1957, he administered the oath of office when his son Thomas E. Fairchild
was sworn in as a member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 1957.
