 on 28 July 1972 and completed the order's theological seminary in 1977. He was ordained to the priesthood on March 18, 1978 by bishop Gerhard Schwenzer in Simpelveld in the Netherlands. He completed his university education at the University of Münster

in 1981. On July 28, 1997, he was consecrated as bishop in Trondheim. On June 8, 2009, Müller resigned and left Trondheim. In April 2010 the real reason for the resignation was communicated: Müller has admitted sexual abuse of an altar boy at the beginning of the 90s.
