She married Murat Birsel in August 1999.
She was first noticed through her articles in Turkish newspapers, titled "Metropol Manzaraları" (Views of the Metropolis, "Metropolis" is actually Istanbul), with her easily noticed funny touches of city life. She later presented a comedy show named "G.A.G.". Currently she is the lead actress and scenarist of the sitcom Avrupa Yakası
