Hamëz Jashari

Hamëz Jashari was a Kosovo Albanian combatant and brother of Adem Jashari
. He was also a commander of Kosovo Liberation Army
(KLA). He accompanied his brother Adem during the Kosovo war
in 1998.
On 30 December, 1991, when the brothers were at home in Prekaz, the Serbian police surrounded them. Despite the heavy artillery used by the Serbs, the brothers Adem and Hamëz, backed by other fighters, broke the first siege of Prekaz.
Later, Adem and Hamëz Jashari participated in several attacks against Serbian police.
The Jasharis' residence in Prekaz was attacked again on 22 January, 1998. This was an unsuccessful attempt of the Serbian troops known as the second siege of Prekaz.
Finally, on 5 March, 1998, Prekaz was surrounded by forces of Serbian army. Adem and Hamëz Jashari and fifty something members of their family, were killed by the Serbian army, one sole survivor was Hamëz' 11 year old daughter, Besarta.
