Henry G. Saperstein

Henry G. Saperstein was a U.S. film producer and distributor. Through his UPA
studio, he produced the television special Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol
(1962), and The Famous Adventures of Mr. Magoo
television series which it spawned, as well as the animated features 1001 Arabian Nights starring Magoo, and Gay Purr-ee
(1962). In the mid-1960s, Saperstein formed a relationship with Japan's Toho
studio, and introduced that company's science-fiction films to U.S. audiences. Working with Toho, Saperstein arranged for U.S. actors to appear in such films as Invasion of Astro-Monster
and Frankenstein Conquers the World
(both featuring Nick Adams), and War of the Gargantuas
with Russ Tamblyn
. He continued to produce film. He died of cancer in Los Angeles on June 24, 1998 at age 80.
