Holy Cross College (Bengali:হলিক্রস কলেজ) is a Catholic institution of higher education located at Tejgaon in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Holy Cross is an intermediate-level (higher secondary) college for girls. The college serves students from class 1 to twelfth grade. Although run by the Christian Church, the school is open for students of all religions and castes.

Established in 1950, Holy Cross Girls' High School has maintained a strong academic tradition and has been awarded the 'Best National School' prize by the Government of Bangladesh in 1997. It is one of the renowned educational institutions in Bangladesh for girls'. The students of the institution actively take part in extra curriculum activities through recitation club, quiz club, debate club, science club, art club and so on.

History

Holy Cross College was founded at Tejgaon, Dhaka in 1950 by the Society of the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross of the Roman Catholic Church. It started as a kindergarten with only two children to attend classes. But by January 1952, a large number of parents registered their children and the kindergarten was converted to a primary school. In October 1953, it was made a high school, which took complete shape in 1955. Sister Augustine Marie was appointed its first headmistress. The school got recognition of the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and the first batch of its students appeared at the SSC examinations in 1966. By that time, it had humanities and science sections. It opened commerce section in 1999. The number of teachers was 59, of which 7 were male.
