Hüseyin Baybaşin and Gıyasettin were tried and found guilty on February 10, 2001 on charges of conspiracy to murder, kidnapping and drug smuggling. Hüseyin was convicted to twenty years in prison that was increased to life sentence in July 2002. while Gıyasettin received eleven years in prison. Abdullah Baybaşin was also convicted in 2002 and jailed in the United Kingdom
