The song's lyrics continue from the lyrics of "Your Wildest Dreams
". The lyrics from "Your Wildest Dreams" tell the story of a man who is remembering his first love, and wonders if she remembers him the way he remembers her. In "I Know You're Out There Somewhere", the man realizes he still loves her, and vows to "return again" to her.
As with "Your Wildest Dreams", a music video was produced for "I Know You're Out There Somewhere." It was also the band's final Top 40 single in the United States, peaking at a relatively disappointing #30 on the Billboard Hot 100
