(Abdi "Godane"), on December 25, 2010, after a power struggle between Godane and other prominent al-Shabaab leaders like Mukhtar Robow (Abu Mansur) and Fuad Shangole. Like his predecessor (Godane), he hails from Somalia's North-Western separatist region of Somaliland
and belongs to Somaliland's Northern Isaaq clan. Before he became al-Shabaab's leader, he was the head of al-Shabaab's Kisimayo administration.
He was rumored to have been killed in Predator drone attack on an al-Shabaab training camp south of Kismayo, Somalia
