that seeks to help Singapore enterprises (especially SMEs) to advance their use of Interactive & Digital Media (IDM). Launched in 2007, the vision behind IDMC@SP was to be a centre of excellence for R&D work in the areas of Interactive & Digital Media. IDM projects are submitted to IDM Programme Office and IDA, and MOE for R&D funding.

Unreal Technology (UT) Living Lab

IDMC@SP have worked on a number of game prototypes. They are viewable in the Infocomm Singapore Games Portal available at http://www.infocommsingapore.sg/games/. IDMC@SP have set up a Games Development Resource Centre (GRC) in the Unreal Technology Living Lab (UT Living Lab). The GRC will have ready facilities to prototype games using advanced games middleware. Small and medium studios are encouraged to contact us on possibilities of collaboration.

Real-Time Interactive Simulation (RTIS) Living Lab

Virtual Worlds such as Second Life have many possible applications for industry and education. IDMC@SP has constructed a virtual version of the IDMC in Second Life. It contains virtual exhibits and virtual meeting spaces. IDMC@SP has also used Second Life as a platform to create Machinima.

Virtual Worlds become even more powerful when they are linked to the real physical world. One way we can do this through the use of real-time sensor inputs; for example, using WiiMotes to track movement in space and translating that into virtual movements in the Virtual World. We can make users see and feel the effects of motion in the Virtual Environment through instrument panels connected to the virtual world and motion platforms that move in synchrony with the simulation. At the Real-Time Interactive Simulation Living Lab (RTIS), we explore various aspects of simulations and virtual world technologies.
