Baxter wrote a series of articles in The American Philatelist entitled Printing Postage Stamps by Line Engraving. The articles were printed during 1937 and 1938, and Baxter was awarded the American Philatelic Society Literary Prize in 1938 for the series. In 1939 Baxter collected the articles into a book entitled Printing Postage Stamps by Line Engraving.
