Jane Elizabeth Ryan
Jane Elizabeth Ryan is a writer/director who devotes her time to familiarize the public with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
. She retired from a career as a Registered Nurse and counselor and currently lives in Grand Island, Nebraska
.
Jane is the author of "Broken Spirits Lost Souls", a non-fiction book which spent several weeks on the publishers Best Sellers list, and offers an overview about the effects of bonding interruptions through neglect and/or abuse. Thanks to the success of her first book, Ryan wrote a novel and the award-winning screenplay entitled The Boarder, which demonstrates Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
in the most vivid, personal way – within the arms of a family desperate to understand and help their disturbed son.
Both the book and the screenplay are based on Jane Ryan's own experiences with two disturbed adopted children, and of families who, like Jane, believed they could simply love the problem away. Sadly, the lack of parental support and education about their children's pasts and behaviors hindered their ability to develop in healthy ways. A movie based on this book is currently in post-production.
Jane about The Boarder: "I believe The Boarder
is a God-given and God-driven project. Alone, we can only scratch the surface; TOGETHER we can make a real difference in the lives of attachment-disturbed children and their families."
