Jhoulys Jose Chacín y Molina (Yo-lease Cha-seen) (born January 7, 1988 in Maracaibo, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball
pitcher for the Colorado Rockies
. He was signed undrafted to the Colorado Rockies
in 2004, and is considered to be one of their top prospects.
He was called up directly to the majors from the Class AA Tulsa Drillers
on July 24, 2009. In 2010 in his first full season in MLB with the Rockies Jhoulys Chacin had 9 wins, 3.28 ERA, and led all NL rookies in strikeouts with 138.
So far in the 2011 season, Chacin has capitalized on his large potential, starting off 3-0. He threw his first career shutout in his first career complete game on April 15, 2011.
